Our Mission

GIVES is a volunteer organization that helps those who need assistance to live independently in their own homes.  Opportunities may include: friendly visits, laundry, letter writing/reading, light house work, local transportation, meal preparation, minor home repairs, respite relief, etc.

Consider joining GIVES as a volunteer by calling 301-507-6580.

About Us

GIVES is Greenbelt Intergenerational Volunteer Exchange Service.

Despite the term “intergenerational”, it is not strictly about younger people helping the elderly. It’s for anyone of any age who needs help.  It started with an interest in making it easier for seniors to stay in their homes as they age, but it’s more inclusive than that. We help transport people to local grocery stores and will walk their dogs if needed.  We will stay with members who can’t be left alone so that their family can run errands.  We sponsor the AARP safe driving course and their tax preparation.

GIVES is about all of Greenbelt helping each other.
